Our Business Philosphy and Ethics ...
Our clients can always expect honest and reliable services - it shouldn't be like in the following video clip which so often has become reality ...
To fulfill the requirements and expectations of our clients we also need to follow proven guidelines, esp. regarding Software and Hardware installation.
(1) Using genuine and licensed Software
We encourage our clients to use only genuine and licensed software. This is not only relevant for the MS-WINDOWS Operating System and other MICROSOFT products but also for any commercial software you have installed or intend to install on your PC/Notebook(s). The risk of using not properly licensed software should not be underestimated because unlicensed and/or pirated software cannot be updated regularly and subsequently opens the door to other problems, esp. security related.
We cannot provide hardware/software related services to clients if they are not using a genuine and licensed copy of the MS-WINDOWS Operating System, any other MICROSOFT product or commercial products which require registration to license the software.
To check out if you are running a genuine and licensed operating system please look for a sticker attached to your PC or notebook with a product key on it - see image below. If there is none then we will find out for you if you are running a genuine MS-WINDOWS operating system and advise you accordingly.
With MICROSOFTs 'Genuine Advantage' program it is possible to purchase a kit to update your equipment. We are able to help you with this at reasonable prices. To avoid later disappointment with the services provided by us we request this from all our clients.
The only exceptions are customers with older versions of the Windows Operating System were no support is provided by MICROSOFT anymore. Example: a customer might have bought a second hand PC with no disks/CDs for the operating system. However: this does not relief the customer from the obligation to use only a genuine and licensed copy of the operating system.
(2) Software and Hardware Check-Up
A check-up of your PC(s)/Notebook(s) is mandatory before we commence most hardware /software related services. The tasks involved are:
- Update of the operating system (if required) and installing the latest Updates
- Anti-Virus Check (incl. update or new installation)
- Anti-Spyware Check (incl. update or new installation)
- Hardware Check (incl. report)
- Software Check and updates where necessary (incl. report)
- Diagnosis of registry and error corrections
- Corrections of settings esp. in your Web Browser
- Removal of unnecessary and temporary files to gain disk space
- Defragmentation of storage media (where applicable)
- Complete Backup of fixed storage media on external USB drive to avoid the risk of
losing important / sensitive (business) data
- Discussion of the results with the customer and presentation of the report(s)
(3) Hardware related upgrades
We source for our customers only new parts from well-known brands of internationally recognized companies which are coming with a factory warranty. In case a part is not available locally we can source it from overseas through our connections in Australia/New Zealand or Europe. Under no circumstances will we be satisfied with no-name products or cheap low-quality imports from unknown sources.
If a customer wishes to use second-hand parts, spare parts from other machines, low quality parts already purchased etc. we can install them. However: there is often no manufacturer warranty available.
(4) Software related services (selection, installation and updates)
Whenever possible we recommend well-known Open Source / Freeware programs, which we use ourselves - they are often installed by millions of users worldwide. This saves our customers unnecessary expenses. Depending on the business requirements it can be necessary to implement commercial products if there is no Open Source / Freeware alternative available. Or the software has become a quasi standard in the industry, like MS-WORD or MS-EXCEL which are used by over 90 % of PC Users worldwide - this helps to avoid any compatibility problem.
We recommend only software which is well-known, trusted, supported locally and in use by other businesses in Mauritius and/or overseas by our clients in New Zealand and in Europe. We cannot install software on the PCs/Notebook(s) of our clients which we have not sourced ourselves with the proper legal paperwork (invoices and registration papers) or which has been provided by the client without the necessary documentation.
(5) Business Ethics - our relationship with other IT companies and
suppliers
To stay independent we are not affiliated with other companies / IT service providers in Mauritius or overseas. Our supplier/manufacturer recommendations are solely based on quality and price in the best interest of our clients. Any financial advantages we receive (for example discounts because we are a longterm customer of a supplier) will be forwarded to our clients (incl. invoices).
